2022-23 Season Recap
What a season did we have here at Surrey Water Polo! Our competitive teams saw much success throughout the year, just as our development programs got a taste of competition through our Surrey Water Polo League!
Competitive Men:
Our 15U boys teams continued to grow as a team as the season progressed, showing much growth with each tournament they attended! Third place at the Tournament of Courage (after a nail-biting shootout), 4th at the Alberta Open, a trip down to California for some team bonding and training before heading to Westerns in Calgary for a 4th place finish after a well-fought game. We can only see success for this group of boys as they continue to play!
Competitive Women:
Our 17U team was young but took major steps forward this season and while they may not have achieved their goal, they came out of Westerns with their head held high and nothing but a bright future ahead of them! They traveled all through Western Canada to compete in the NCL (National Championship League) as well as a successful training camp in California, and we can’t see what this young team may accomplish in the future.
Our 15U team proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with, holding silver at the Tournament of Courage (after a battle in the semi-final to earn their place in the final match), silver once more at the Alberta Open and once more at Westerns in Calgary. The girls only continued to improve as the season progressed, with many of them playing up on our 17U team, giving them that chance for experience and play. As mentioned above, we can’t wait to see what this team may accomplish moving forward and into the next season.
Development and Introductory:
Our Development and Introductory programs saw much triumph and growth this past season and the coaches couldn’t have been prouder! Many of the athletes participated in our Surrey Water Polo League - a league that has monthly games for our younger athletes to get a taste and experience of what water polo is all about! We saw the groups take many steps forward, improving greatly on their abilities and skills, and it is safe to say they will only continue to improve as they get older!
