Join Surrey Water Polo Club this Summer for a four-day introductory and development camp designed for athletes who are confident in the water and looking to challenge themselves in a dynamic, team-based environment. Throughout the camp, athletes will be introduced to the foundations of high-performance water polo including:
This camp is ideal for strong swimmers or water polo players interested in transitioning into high-performance sport, as well as athletes looking to elevate their understanding of the game in a fun, supportive, and high-energy environment led by Olympians Hayley McKelvey and Vladimir Ushakov.
Hayley McKelvey is a Team BC coach, Head Coach of the Team Canada 16U Girls National Team, and an internationally experienced coach who will lead Canadian athletes at the upcoming 16U World Championships this summer. As a two-time Olympian, she brings firsthand experience and insight into the pathway from club sport to international competition.
Vladimir Ushakov has served as Head Coach of Surrey Water Polo Club since 2016, leading the program to numerous achievements, including a 16U National Championship title. An Olympian and experienced high-performance coach, he will also serve this summer as assistant coach for Team Canada’s 19U Men’s Pan American Team, continuing his work in developing athletes at the national level.
